After a major disaster there is immediate work needed to make people safe, secure and sanitary. Within a few weeks, needs change and rebuilding work begins. Long Term Recovery Committees (LTRs) bring representatives from the faith community, local agencies, business and government together to respond to the ongoing community needs. They have a special call to serve the elderly, handicapped and other vulnerable populations. These are the groups that often coordinate roofing and repair projects and volunteer teams and local church support are essential to stretching the resources so that more people can be served.
